This month, Scudder Demolition reached another project milestone with the official handover of unit 11 (River Island) at The Oracle shopping centre, Reading.
The project aimed to increase the retail space of River Island by demolishing the existing corridor adjacent to store. This was then rebuilt within Debenham’s demise nearby, subsequently reducing Debenham’s retail space.
Scudder’s scope of works included the decommissioning, removal and installation of all mechanical and electrical services within this demise, followed by the construction of 90m of dryline shaft wall and the installation of a new wet riser and fire sprinkler protection. Finally, the removal of the existing staircase on the ground floor of the mezzanine, and the extension of the mezzanine floor level completed the works.
Demonstrating expertise within live retail environments, this project highlights the technical and complex capabilities of Scudder Demolition.
