Scudder Demolition are proud recipients of the ‘New Entrant Award’, presented at the World Demolition Summit in Dublin. The award recognises the quality of both the Selfridges and One Palace Street submissions in the Urban Demolition Award category.

A total of 48 projects and products from more than 30 companies – including entrants from Germany, India and South Africa – have emerged from a record number of entries to contest the World Demolition Awards, highlighting the significance of receiving this prestigious award in overcoming such tough competition.

Our work at Selfridges provided an improved in-store experience for their customers, delivering the largest ever financial investment for a single project, by a department store, anywhere in the world, creating an unobstructed retail space across the entire site, levelling floorplates, improving access and egress to the loading bays, and expanding the available retail space.

Acting as the specialist demolition contractor, we enabled this extensive refurbishment and renovation project to be undertaken without causing any disruption to store operations, despite the lack of accurate data available on the historic alterations and construction methodology of the building.

At One Palace Street we were contracted to undertake a prestigious cut and carve package including significant alterations on the building, having undertaken similar works at Lots Road Power Station in Chelsea and Runnymede Campus in Oxfordshire. 

Our works at One Palace Street will transform the Grade II listed building into an exceptional private residence located adjacent to the world-recognised location of Buckingham Palace. The redevelopment will include 72 ultra-luxury apartments, underground parking and communal gardens, as well as the restoration and remodelling of the various façades in Italian and French Renaissance, Beaux Arts and Queen Anne styles.
