ION Environmental was engaged to remove large quantities of asbestos from the former Bingo Hall and associated buildings at the Station Hill site in Reading.
It was essential these works were carried out with extreme care, as it was a safety risk to contractors on-site and the general public who were still present in the live environment adjacent to an operational railway.
One of the main challenges faced by ION Environmental Solutions was working at height under fully controlled conditions to remove a one metre square air conditioning duct, constructed from AIB, which ran the full length of the building, eight metres above the floor.
Safety was the priority while delivering a high-quality result for our client. Also key to this project’s success was our ability to overcome the operational, safety, and planning challenges of working within a live rail environment without impacting on the station’s operations.
Carey Group companies, Scudder and Careys Civil Engineering, secured further work following the successful completion of our work.
