ION Environmental was contracted to carry out a responsive small works contract for Golding Homes at their Hawley Court site. With current tenants in residency, Golding Homes required the removal of asbestos based materials from kitchens and bathrooms throughout the site.
Due to working with an inhabited site, extensive pre-contract planning was required to identify and mitigate any risks. In addition to this, bespoke measures were designed for individual properties to ensure that any disruption to residents was kept to a minimum.
Having taken suitable planning precautions, our team could successfully
remove the asbestos under fully controlled conditions, including a seven-storey tower block where our team extracted asbestos insulation panels, redundant incinerators and associates flues from the bin chute room.
One of the primary challenges for this contract was carrying out our works in a live environment with residents in occupation. As part of our pre-contract planning all potential safety risks were identified and addressed and bespoke measures for individual properties devised to ensure that any disruption to residents was kept to a minimum.
