ION Environmental is providing an emergency response service at The Cockpit for Golding Homes, which involves attending resident properties to contain any immediate spillage of asbestos containing materials.
The primary challenge of this contract was the live nature of the project and the issues which arise from working alongside residents who often require reassurance about the impact of an ‘emergency’ situation. We ensured site teams had the necessary training and information to provide guidance and reassure residents and their visitors of the quality and safety of the works.
A key aspect to the work involved containing the spread of asbestos that was exposed following a fire at a property. We attended the site within two hours to determine the extent of the situation and subsequently develop a permanent solution.
This included working under fully controlled conditions to remove fire damaged asbestos insulation board ceiling panels as well as contaminated rubble within the entrance lobby and bin room.
