ION Environmental was contracted for asbestos removal, alongside works of Carey Group company Scudder Demolitionm, at the former Ford Motor, Dagenham Stamping and Tooling Operations (DSTO) plant, located in Essex.
The DSTO plant was constructed in the early 1930s serving as a centre for stamping and tooling for the larger Ford site at Dagenham. After many years of operation the decision to permanently close the manufacturing works was made in 2010 following a decline in car demand across Europe.
The vast site is located to the north-west of the main Ford Dagenham Estate, and has a proposed demolition boundary of approximately 20 hectares.
We were contracted to remove thousands of metres of low and high-risk asbestos materials which required extensive logistical planning and operational programming to allow us to deliver for our client.
