Leading by example, this month ION Environmental were awarded the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association’s (ARCA) Gold Training Award as a testament of their fantastic efforts and successful completion of ARCA’s specialised training.

Asbestos is a category 1 Carcinogen and still kills 5,000 people a year.  In order to become a licenced asbestos removal company, you are legally required to have trained and competent licenced removal operatives, supervisors and contract managers.

Within the industry thorough training courses are imperative, preventing the fatal risks of asbestos contamination. The initial training for this is 3 days for new operatives or supervisors and 2 days for a contract manager. This is followed up by TNA “Training needs analysis” and 1-day annual refresher training. Comprised of 23 modules, ranging from asbestos regulations to health and safety, our team attended the required training courses, exceeding the average exam score, achieving an impressive average score of 92.5%

Only awarded to ARCA members having successfully met their criteria, ION Environmental completed training with both supervisor and operative courses, with a minimum of 8 delegates on each course.

This is a great achievement highlighting that as a team we apply our wider Group strategy of training and retaining the best people.
