We are a provider of Civil Engineering, Demolition, Dry Lining, House Building, Asbestos removal and Resource Recovery Services. The Group has over 1400 employees and operates throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland and our Head Office is in North West London.

P.J. Carey (Contractors) Ltd - traditional Design & Build - complex temporary works, substructures, basements, earthworks, infrastructure, landscaping, parking, access roads, highways.

P.J. Carey (Contractors) Ltd, registered in Ireland - specialise in the delivery of contracts within a range of sectors; Infrastructure and Renewable Energy, Residential (both Private and Public sector), Commercial, Retail and Industrial.

Ion Environmental Solutions Ltd- an established asbestos removal contractor.

T.E Scudder Ltd - soft strip, asbestos removal, demolition/ deconstruction, structural alterations & building works, enabling & temporary works.

BDL Group plc – to both commercial and residential sectors, encompassing dry lining, dry wall partitioning, suspended ceilings, plastering and screeding.

Carey New Homes Ltd - building, quality, affordable homes across the South of England.

Seneca Environmental Solutions Ltd- helps clients to manage their resources efficiently and effectively, to reduce, re-use and re-cycle their waste.

P.J. Carey Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd - plant & vehicle hire, supply chain plant hire, servicing, site repairs, formwork supply, HGV deliveries.

Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our Anti-Slavery Statement reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

 Due Diligence Processes for Slavery and Human Trafficking

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we ensure:

  • No forced labour or human trafficking is practiced and employment is freely chosen;
  • Working conditions are safe and hygienic;
  • Working hours are not excessive;
  • A fair wage is paid;
  • No child labour is exploited;
  • No harsh, cruel or degrading practices are allowed; and
  • No discrimination is practiced.

We have in place systems to:

  • Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains.
  • Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains.
  • Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains.
  • Protect whistle blowers.
  • Share knowledge with our employees on signs to look out for (link used from Herts Metropolitan Police)

Supplier Adherence to our Values and Ethics

We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. To ensure all those in our supply chain and contractors comply with our values, Carey Group PLC expects its suppliers to have a natural respect for our ethical standards in the context of their own culture. 

The relationships with our suppliers are based on the principle of fair and honest dealings at all times and in all ways.  Carey Group PLC specifically expects its suppliers to extend the same principle of fair and honest dealings to all others with whom they do business, including employees, sub-contractors and other third parties as set out in our Ethical Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery Policies.

We invest in educating our staff to recognise the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.

Through our training programmes, employees are encouraged to identify and report any potential breaches of the organisations Anti-Slavery Statement. Employees are taught the benefits of stringent measures to tackle slavery and human trafficking, as well as the consequences of failing to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from our business and supply chains.

An article provided via the Herts Metropolitan Police on signs to look out for in relation to modern slavery has been posted on our company intranet.

Our Effectiveness in Combating Slavery and Human Trafficking

We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effective we have been to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains:

 Deliver an internal awareness campaign throughout UK & Ireland to all employees regarding modern slavery.

  • Modern Slavery training for all employees involved directly in supply chains.
  • Report on its effectiveness in ensuring slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in its business or supply chains.
  • Develop, in conjunction with appropriate partners, a process of remediation and support for victims of modern slavery identified within the company operations and supply chains.
  • Continuously and rigorously check right to work documentation as fraudulent documents can be an indication of modern slavery.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Group's slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 2016.
