About The Opportunity

Based from our Regional Office in Milton Keynes or Wembley, Careys House this position is for a roving HSEQ Manager capable of providing support and assistance and continuous raising of the bar on health, safety, quality, sustainability and environmental performance across multiple Careys Group projects; a key individual in the Regions Operational and Project Management Teams.

  • Advising management on the development, formulation and implementation of Group and Divisional strategies in the management of health, safety, quality, sustainability & environment
  • Delivering an Integrated Management System (IMS) framework that provides a consistent approach to the implementation of legislative, regulatory and company requirements
  • Keeping up to date on legislation, best working practice and all external influences on HSEQ and assisting communication of changes, developments and innovation throughout the organisation
  • Liaising with statutory bodies [including HSE, EA, SEPA, Local Authorities, EHO’s], third parties [community stakeholders] and Clients [Project stakeholders] as required to maintain and develop positive relationships
  • Establishing and maintaining robust integrated management systems for the monitoring of HSEQ performance (including the performance of our supply chain), against HSEQ strategy, plans, objectives, performance indicators, policies, procedures and legislation
  • Benchmarking HSEQ performance both internally within the Carey Group and externally within the applicable industry sectors to drive standards and best practice
  • Providing proactive monitoring of Project performance through delivery of internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with statutory legal and legislative obligations, adopted industry codes of practice, internal company policy, procedures, standards, guidance and the Carey Visual Standards
  • Providing reactive monitoring including the investigation of accidents, incidents, utility damages and strikes, near misses and environmental incidents to establish lessons learnt, prevent recurrence and the reduction of risk
  • Coach and educate those that interact with the undertakings of the company in HSEQ related areas
  • Provide expertise and advice in the creation of company process, procedure, proforma and guidance, to provide, so far as is reasonably practicable, a safe & healthy working environment for employees, clients, contractors and members of the public


About You

  • Worked as a HSEQ professional previously, on medium-large scale (including design and build) projects across a variety of sectors and has experience advising a region, both pre-contract and during contract, with M&E, Civil & Structural. Asbestos & Demolition deliverables
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a civil and/or similar industry, heavy industry role
  • NEBOSH Diploma/NRCQ Diploma Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent
  • NEBOSH – Environmental Certificate
  • Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety & Health- Graduate (GradIOSH) working towards CMIOSH
  • Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Train the Trainer - Lead Investigator
  • CSCS Qualification
