Careys Civil Engineering are proud recipients of a Gold Considerate Constructors Scheme 2018 National Company Award.

Since 1998, the Considerate Constructors Scheme has been rewarding the UK’s most considerate sites for the contribution they have made towards improving the image of construction.  The Considerate Constructors Scheme’s National Site Awards recognise those sites registered with the Scheme that have raised the bar for considerate construction.

On behalf of the Scheme, I would like to congratulate our award winners on their success. Every award-winning site is a beacon of best practice – making significant strides to continually improve the image and reputation of the UK construction industry. The Scheme is hugely proud of the efforts of these top-performing sites and we thank them for their hard work, dedication and commitment to achieve ever higher standards in considerate construction.

Isabel Martinson, MBE, Executive Chairman, Considerate Constructors Scheme

Considerate Constructors Scheme 2018 National Supplier Award winners are selected from the top performing registered suppliers monitored between the 1 August 2017 and the 31 July 2018.  In achieving the Gold Award, Careys Civil Engineering has shown the highest levels of consideration towards the public, its workforce and the environment through adhering to the Scheme’s five-point Code of Considerate Practice:

  • Care about Appearance
  • Respect the Community
  • Protect the Environment
  • Secure everyone’s Safety
  • Value their Workforce

Winning the Gold Considerate Constructors Scheme 2018 National Company Award is a testament to our site teams and in particular the ‘Carey Way’. The Carey Way guides all our actions and decisions. It is our standard of performance, it drives the choices that each and every one of us makes as we strive for perfection in everything we do to be better every day.

Steve Regan, Chief Executive Officer, Careys Civil Engineering

To enable us to achieve this, the Carey Way visual standards were developed and made available online to all staff, accessible from smartphones, tablets or desktop computers. Each of our 'Black Hat' supervisors have also been issued with a smartphone to enable access to the visual standards directly from the workface.

The Carey Way has been developed and embedded by our operational teams with the help of our functional departments, particularly HSE and Quality Assurance. It is always evolving and is championed across the regions by our operational managers and health and safety teams, to help support safe working practices as part of our 'Safe Home Every Day' initiative.

Covering site set-up and construction works to project management, each individual visual standard consists of a simple list of Dos, Don’ts, Considerations and References – relevant documents that either enhance or provide further details on the proper procedures to be implemented.
