Project Overview

The demolition of these 1960’s flats and maisonettes paved the way 111 new energy efficient homes. The work on this extensive site took place in two phases, phase 1 being the demolition of 3 of the 8 large blocks. Asbestos surveys revealed extensive ACM’s which were removed, following clean air tests demolition commenced on a block-by-block basis. The blocks were demolished using long reach machines with pulveriser attachments. The gable ends, constructed of cavity brick walls were hand demolished to avoid collapse. Dust suppression was required due to the proximity of live residential sites.
